The last day of the Marine Corps Reunion!! There is nothing on the reunion agenda until evening so we have the day to do whatever we want!!! Thank Goodness Ken was feeling much better. Still getting a little woozey every now and then but able to be up and around and want to get out of the room to enjoy the day!!! We decided this would be a great day to go to Mount Vernon .. George and Martha Washington's home!!!
Before getting to the Washington's home you enter the Ford Orientation Center to get the tickets and join the tour. We watched a video there "We Fight To Be Free".

We did finally make it inside .. lots of interesting things to see but alack and alas .. no pics to be taken .. do they know how hard that is for someone who wants pics of everything?????

The Kitchen .. beside the Kitchen building is a lane and along that lane are the buildings that serve various purposes .. The storehouse and Clerk's Quarters, Smokehouse, Wash house and laundry yard, Coach House, and Stable. Walking down that lane is like going through a small village!!!

This was so neat .. the lady portraying Martha Washington talked and talked and talked .. it was as if she was really Martha Washington telling you tales about George and about her granddaughter .. on and on .. we hated to leave but had much more to see!!!!

Of course we had to have a treat before going back to the hotel to get ready for our evening's activity ..

After a short rest in our room and a shower we went downstairs to the Evening Banquet.
Our speaker .. sad to say I don't remember his name .. he has a published book about the war in Vietnam .. and I don't remember the name of it either .. Duhhhhhhhh!!!

This was our last evening to be with this group .. it was good to be able to sit and visit with Sally n Jim and Janice n Tony .. very friendly, very nice people!!! I really enjoyed our time with them!! Sally and Jim live in New York and Janice and Tony live in Florida .. whether we will ever see each other again only the good Lord knows .. but we will be in touch on Facebook!!!
I don't know when the next reunion will be .. but I will be looking forward to it!!! This was the last day of the Marine Corps Reunion but NOT the last day of our big Adventure .. we have yet to see Madison and Jefferson's homes .. and whatever else we come across along the way!!!!!
