THE ROAD TO HANA!!!
Our day's adventure "On The Road To Hana" would begin at 6:30 am and end at 5:30 pm .. that's a lot of miles on a very narrow road along the coastline with over 600 curves!!!
Most of the pictures are taken through the windows on our tour bus!!
Although it hadn't been raining we would see many beautiful rainbows along the way!!
Our driver and guide .. her name is Pu!!!
The smokestacks of a Sugar Mill
Sugar Cane fields
These are called Rainbow Eucalyptus Trees!!
There were 56 bridges on the road to Hana!
A fruit market stand .. there were several stands along the road with people selling various items!!
The thumb and little finger hand sign is for "Hang Loose"!!!
Back on the bus kids!!
Our first waterfall sighting ..
Bamboo!!
See the tiny little white church off in the distance?????
Chris Christofferson's house!! I know .. all you can see is the roof .. I tried!!!
Pu feeding the Mongoose ..or is it Mongooses .. or Mongeese!!!
Time for lunch ..
And shopping at this hand crafted jewelry shop ..
The lady who crafts the jewelry ..
ON THE ROAD AGAIN!!
Another beautiful waterfall!!
A native craftsman making hats to sell!!
He wanted to be buried looking towards the island of Hawaii .. and he was!!
Time to move on ..
Pu was asked about these crosses at the side of the road but she said she wouldn't tell us the story for it was too sad!!!
I found it neat that they decorate for Halloween even in Hawaii!!
Ken has been teased mercilessly about his bow legs .. it was pretty neat that we found a cowpoke with legs more bowed than his!!! Maybe now they'll leave Ken alone .. LOL!!
Maui Gold Pineapple .. supposed to be the BEST Pineapple you can find!! Pu told us how to find out if the Pineapple is fully ripe and ready to be eaten .. the bigger the buttons on the outside of the Pineapple the better the Pineapple .. if you pull on the middle leaf on the top of the Pineapple and it pulls out .. the Pineapple is RIPE!!
