DAY THREE of our latest adventure .. Sunday, April 27
After a hot breakfast at the hotel .. we loaded our baggage into the car and we were on the road by 8:00 headed to Jamestown Settlement ..
The weather was beautiful .. so was the scenery!!
A flag for every state .. how neat!!!
Whoops .. you're supposed to be able to see the Jamestown Settlement sign above and behind us!! I guess we need to do some practicing on our selfies .. LOL!!!
Please excuse the fuzzy pictures .. one of these days maybe our photographer will learn what setting to put the camera on for various lighting situations .. oh well .. you get the idea .. we went through a Jamestown Museum before getting to the Settlement!!
Look what we found in the gift shop ..
Jamestown Census of 1620!!!
Being a wood carver Ken was very interested in these totems poles!!!
It's hard to see but lying on the ground in front of the circle of twisted vines is a corn cob with a long feather stuck in the end .. you throw the feathered cob through the center of the ring!!!
Ken was enamored of this "outhouse" .. LOL!!
Can you find the Chicken??????
Two Chicken in this one .. did you find them both????
Don't miss Ken standing up there on the higher part of the ship!!
These blankety - blank shoestrings!!!
The church ...
Click on the link below to see the Bandolier shoot his Musket gun!!!
Hmmmm .. was it a Musket or was it a Muzzle Loader .. or are they the same?????
Jamestown Settlement was a real treat!!! For more information on Jamestown click on the link below ..
Historic Jamestown is just right down the road and we are headed that way ..
Notice the guy on the lay-down bicycle pedaling along the road!!!
Next stop .. Williamsburg ..
where we made a discovery .. you couldn't get in the buildings without a pass .. it cost $35.00 per person for a All Day Pass .. by the time we got there . the first half of the day was already passed and some of the places closed at 2:30 so we didn't think it was worth $70.00 to see the little we would have time to see. Next time we will plan to get to Williamsburg at the beginning of the day so we will have all day to see everything!!!
Time to find our way to Alexandria, Virginia where we will be spending the night!!
Stopped at Bojangles in Quinton, VA for lunch .. a first for me .. I've heard of Bojangles but had never been to one!! Kind of like a KFC!!!
Whoops .. there's a Mc Donald's right down the street .. it's been a hot day .. we've done a lot of walking .. and we've not had a Mc Donald's Ice Cream for a lonnnnggg time .. let's do it!!! I'll buy!!!
The GPS said we would be at our hotel by 5:51 VA time but we ran into a 3 lane very slow traffic jam on I 95 ... YIKES!!!!
Finally made it to Alexandria and the hotel by 7:00 VA time!!! Got settled into our room then went to the IHOP that is a part of the hotel and had a quick supper. When we got back to the room I took a nice long soak in a hot tub of water .. the body needed it .. especially the feet and legs!!! Felt soooooooo good!!!! And then to bed to get rested up for the next day's adventure!!!
What a vacation !!! You have seen so many interesting historic sights !! Beautiful pics !! Great pics of you and Ken too!! I have a smile on my face !I could not have picked anyone better suited for you, Liz, than Ken !!
