This is now the 6th day of our latest big adventure .. after several days of traveling and sightseeing and doing the tourist bit we are now settled into the Holiday Inn in Dumfries, VA where the reunion is being held. If you're on Facebook you know that silly me .. went off and left part of the power cord for my laptop at home .. DUHHHHHH!!! So I haven't been posting pics or anything on our adventuring blog because my laptop battery is only good for 4 hours and I didn't want to run the thing clear down. Thank goodness I had brought the IPAD along so I wasn't completely without internet .. LOL!!!
The reunion festivities wseren't scheduled to start until 4:00 this evening so we had lots of free time today. I got on the internet and checked out Best Buy web site looking for the cable I needed .. the lowest priced cable I found was $59.99!!! Ken was ready to hop in the car and go get one but I said "no way" .. I searched for thrift stores in this area and came up with a whole list .. two of which were Goodwill and Savers!!! We donned our rain gear .. grabbed the umbrella and off we went .. and I actually found a cable for my laptop at Goodwill for only $1.95!!!! Of course I found other treasures too!!!
Even though I found a cable at Goodwill we just had to go to Savers too ..
We found a few books here .. nothing exciting but we had fun looking .. and what else could we do on a rainy day anyway???? When we got back to the room we still had a couple hours of free time so I hooked that $1.95 cable to my laptop .. plugged it into the wall and actually got DAY ONE of our latest adventure posted on the Annie's Granny blog!!!!
All the reunion had going today was a Registration and Reception .. not much happening there .. very few people in the room except the small group of people who put this together. We stayed a couple of hours and went back to our room ..so later in the evening I also got DAY TWO posted!!!
After my work on the computer we ventured out of the hotel in search of a good place to eat .. we had munched on a few goodies at the reception earlier so didn't want a meal .. just a Burger or something ..
The Charbroil Grill looked like it would be a great place for a really good Burger!!
A very very nice place .. and not a Burger place .. Steaks .. Lamb .. Lobster .. Salad Bar .. we just had the Soup and Salad Bar .. too bad we weren't starving!!! And of course I had to get a picture of this lovely bench in the front as we were on our way out!!! I don't know who that lady in the mirror is .. she seems to be following us everywhere .. LOL!!
You have Ken to thank for this next picture .. he wanted me to get a picture of these UGLY carpets in the hall .. LOL!!
Very nice hotel but yeah .. their taste in carpets was not too great!!!
