We've had a good night's sleep .. bags are packed back up .. time to check out and enjoy some Breakfast!!!
Another beautiful flag blowing in the wind .. our last pic of La Quinta Inn!!! And we're off to Nauvoo!!!
As soon as we parked in downtown Nauvoo I saw a little shop .. it said "Art - Needlework" on the window. On the other window it said "Antiques - Collectables" .. of course I had to go in .. LOL!!!
Funny story .. I've probably already told you .. but I'll tell it again anyway!! The shop was actually more Art - Needlework than it was Antiques - Collectables and I didn't find anything I wanted to purchase .. but the clerk was very nice and I stood and visited with her a bit. We knew there was supposed to be a penny smashing machine in Nauvoo but didn't know where it was supposed to be located .. so I asked her if she would happen to know where the penny machine was located .. she chuckled and said "yeah .. it's right here" .. I was standing right beside the thing .. LOL LOL LOL!!! It sure didn't look anything like any penny machine I had ever seen ..
Yep .. that's the penny machine!!! You give her your 2 quarters and she turns the handle to the design you want on your penny .. then you put your penny in the slot at the top and start cranking!!!

These two ladies were our tour guides through this very beautiful home and were gracious enough not only to take our picture but to let me take theirs along with Ken!!
The super nice little lady with the white hair and blue dress took the picture of us above .. she had trouble getting the picture with my camera .. I finally went to the car and got my phone so she could use the camera on it!! Later I found out why she was having a problem getting a picture with the camera .. she had accidentally pushed the video button!!! Click on the link below if you want to see the video .. LOL!!!
The ladies told us we could take a wagon tour of Old Nauvoo or a carriage tour .. we chose the wagon tour ..

We also went into the Printing shop .. don't know why I didn't take any pictures!!! Each place you went into you were given a tour and the history of it. The tour of the print shop was very interesting .. if you ever go to Nauvoo be sure to go to the print shop .. you will be amazed at how they used to type set and get the paper printed!!!

There is a lot to see in Nauvoo that we didn't take time to see .. we wanted to make it to Keokuk, Iowa and then Hannibal, Missouri before the end of the day!!!

We didn't do anything in Keokuk .. just went through to get to the route we needed to get to Hannibal!!
We hadn't yet made our minds up as to whether to stay overnight in Hannibal and tour the city Sunday or to go on home .. before we got to Hannibal we decided we would stop and have a good meal and make up our minds whether to go on or to stay!!!
Country Kitchen .. sounds like a great place to find a good meal!!!
Ken's choice was named DECADENCE!!! Three Strawberry Chocolate Cheesecake Crepes with Whipped Cream ..
I know you wouldn't believe this if I didn't have a picture of it .. I actually chose a "sensible" evening meal .. Chopped Steak and A1 Sauce, Mashed Potatoes and Baked Apples .. my picture looks like I just might be wishing I had chosen the Crepes .. LOL!!! Ken cut me off a little piece and I must say they were delicious!!!
While sitting there enjoying our meal we finally made up our minds and decided to head home .. we had had a great time on this new adventure .. BUT .. when you've been on your feet having fun for several days .. home sounds mighty good .. AND Hannibal is only a couple of hours away .. we can do that some weekend when we're all rested up and looking for something to do!!!
We arrived home to discover that someone had started the landscaping and a flowerbed under the front windows was in progress .. what a nice surprise!!!
Milage on Malibu Mabel was 74690 .. we had added 1006 miles to her odometer!!!
The smaller plant on the left is a Spirea .. the taller plant at the right is a Crepe Myrtle .. I love Crepe Myrtles so that makes me very happy!!! They will be cutting that ugly white thing down to the ground and recapping it .. planting a couple more plants .. and putting in mulch before it is finished!!!
We had a great time .. it was a wonderful adventure .. but no matter where you go or how great a time you have .. THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME!!!!
