ARIZONA BOUND .. DAY ONE!!

EXCITEMENT .. EXCITEMENT!!! 
All loaded up and ready to go .. left our garage at 7:04!!!

Breakfast was Sausage and Egg McMuffins from McDonalds in Washington, MO ..

Our first Rest Area ..

They even had a Banjo player to entertain the tourists ..

These 2 pictures are for our friends Paul and Jane .. Jane was born and raised in the little tiny town of Emma, Mo.  We had too many miles to go to stop at the town of Emma today but I thought they might like to see these pictures!!

Ah Oh .. time for munching .. I can't resist that Chex Mix with Cashews and M & M's any longer .. LOL!!!

Another Rest Area .. I like these Historical Marker with stories about the state of Kansas!!!

You were able to climb these stairs and look out at the view from the top of the Rest Area ..

Sad to say the view was not very exciting!!!  Maybe it is prettier during other seasons????

Ken decided he would zip down and give me something that was worth taking a picture of .. LOL!!! 

 After our stop at this Rest Area we finally made it to Wamego and the Oz Museum!!! Sad to say they were working on the front of the Museum .. so not a very pretty picture but here you are!!!  We were concerned that they might not be open after we went out of our way to get here .. but lo and behold .. we saw a couple of women come out so we knew they were .. WHEW!!!! 

WOW!!  A penny smasher right inside the door!!!  Madonna will be happy!!!

I found the story of Little Olga .. who played one of the Munchkins .. to be very neat!!!

And here we are .. ready to go up in the balloon .. funny thing .. it never did take off!!!

They were doing some work on the inside too .. we never did see the Wizard of Oz himself so I'm thinking maybe they were working on his little corner of the world????

I found it neat to know that Custer was here .. well .. not at this rest stop but at Fort Riley!!!! 

Supper at IHOP in Salinas, Kansas .. Yuuuummmmmm!!! 

Lots and lots of wind mills on the road to Hays, Kansas where we will be spending the night!!!

We made it to our home for the night at Super 8 in Hays, Kansas around 6:30 .. we're all settled in .. I've got my pictures downloads and posted on this page and now it's time for a nice long soak in the tub and to rest up for our day of traveling tomorrow!!!
