DAY 11 .. A DAY ON THE BEACH!!

Yesterday we drove along the coast checking out the beaches trying to decide which beach we wanted to spend the day  on today!!  We chose Hanalei Beach and it was a great choice!!!  A lot of other people were enjoying this beach too .. but this gave us a lot to enjoy watching as we relaxed for the day in the sun and the sand .. watching and listening to the waves rolling in!!

We were amazed at the young kids carrying their surf boards and boogie boards down to the water and jumping right in .. all by themselves .. no parents watching over them!!!

We thought for sure rain would be running us off the beach soon but it all blew over eventually!!! 

Whoops .. the wave snuck up and got our butts wet .. LOL LOL LOL!!!

The Life Guard "shack"!!!

Lunch time!!! 

The young man on the left noticed Ken's St. Louis cap and we stopped for a visit.  He grew up in St. Louis but now lives in Kauai .. still a Cardinals fan . OH YEAH!!!    He had a St. Louis tattoo on his chest below his right shoulder .. the young man beside him said that was so he could remember where he came from .. LOL!! 

You see all kinds of things during a day on the beach .. including people sitting in the shade playing music!!!

And LOTS of footprints in the sand!!

 And waaaayyyyy across the beach we came across this debris washed up on the beach by the waves!!! 

Whoever lives in this hole didn't seem to be at home .. Thank Goodness!!!

We loved watching these kids .. 



They were throwing balls of sand at each other and having a blast!!! 

 Leaving the beach and heading back towards our home away from home ..

 

And a supper of Salad and Pizza and drinks of your choice!!!

Just a little silliness after a lazy day  on the beach .. Sylvia has been telling us about the lovely hula dancer lamp in their room .. Pat and I just had to go see it .. and of course I HAD to get a picture ...

 

And then we decided I also should take a picture of our other two unique lamps .. this one is also in Carl and Sylvia's room .. I actually LIKE this one but Shhhhhh .. don't tell anybody!!

And this one in the living room .. 



Hmmmmm ... yeah .. it is a bit unique!!!  And with this shade you couldn't put a very big bulb in it so it wasn't real great for stretching out on the couch or in that nice soft chair next to it and reading!!! 

This would be our last night in our "home away from home" on the Island of Kauai  .. after supper and showers .. some of us stretched out to  watch the Cardinals game on TV and some of us spent the evening packing all those bags once again!!  Funny how hard it was to find room for everything this time .. I didn't think we bought that many souveneirs!!!!!
