RAGGEDY ANNIE'S GRANNY: DAY 4 .. OLD LAHAINA LUAU!!

We're in Hawaii .. gotta' go to a Luau!! Family and friends of Carl and Sylvia had been to the Old Lahaina Luau and gave it great reviews and we couldn't wait to go there!! However we couldn't get a reservation until DAY 4 of our stay .. and then we just got lucky .. they had some cancellations and gave us a call that they could get us in!!!

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE OLD LAHAINA LUAU ..

You'll be individually greeted with a fresh flower lei, tropical drink and a personalized souvenir program before your Luau hosts escort you to your seats and acquaint you with the Old Lahaina Luau grounds. At the ocean's edge, you may gather as the Kalua pig is unearthed from the "Imu", a traditional Hawaiian underground oven. After, you'll be escorted to the Hale A'i (Eating House) for your buffet dinner. ** We did receive beautiful leis of live flowers .. they were placed around our necks as we entered the luau. AND we were given a Mai Tai to drink!!

At sunset, the evening's main entertainment begins. This award winning production tells the story of the Hawaiians and the Old Lahaina Luau is proud to present the Hula as it was meant to be performed, with love and reverence. Beginning with the roots of migration to the Kahiko, then finally the more contemporary style Hula.

At the time of booking Maui’s Old Lahaina Luau, please select your preference of Traditional Hawaiian Mat seating or regular Conventional Tables and Chairs. Premium open bar is included through out the evening. *** We were lucky here also .. the people who had cancelled had chosen the conventional table and chairs!!!

Chicken Long Rice - Shredded chicken, Maui onions, ginger and rice bean noodles in broth
Island Style Chicken - Chicken marinated with guava sauce garnished with fresh pineapples and toasted sesame seeds
Stir Fry Vegetables - Zucchini, Maui onions, carrots, broccoli, sugar snap peas, and baby corn
Local-Style Fried Rice - Fried rice with green onions, peas, and sesame oil

Taro Salad - Taro and spinach folded in coconut sauce

I wasn't crazy about the Mai Tai but the Virgin Lava Flows Pat and I ordered later sure were tasty .. Yummmmm!!!

The couple that joined our group were from Germany and very friendly .. the lady's name was Hildegarde but sorry to say I can't remember her husband's name!!
