We had a fun day yesterday in spite of the cold bitter winds!!! The movie .. "The Finest Hours" was very good .. very intense but very good!!
The movie is based on a true story .. which makes it even more intense .. knowing that this actually happened!! On Feb. 18, 1952, a massive storm splits the SS Pendleton in two, trapping more than 30 sailors inside the tanker's sinking stern. Engineer Ray Sybert bravely takes charge to organize a strategy for his fellow survivors. As word of the disaster reaches the Coast Guard in Chatham, Mass., Chief Warrant Officer Daniel Cluff orders a daring rescue mission. Despite the ferocious weather, coxswain Bernie Webber takes three men on a lifeboat to try and save the crew against seemingly impossible odds. As we were leaving the movie we were standing in the lobby of the theater and discussing where to go for lunch / dinner .. a very nice older couple .. our range of older .. heard us and came over and began telling us about a place they loved .. The Midtown Bistro .. as they were trying to explain how to get there they decided we might as well follow them for that's where they were going .. LOL!! It was a small but very nice little Bistro .. most of us had their "special" a fairly large piece of Cod covered with Parmesan and baked and a side .. I had French Fries .. for only $5.99 .. it was very good and it was a bargain .. can't beat that .. LOL!! This very nice couple sat with us and we spent the time visiting and getting acquainted with them. John and Ilene .. John was quite a talker and Ilene kept telling him he needed to zip it up .. LOL!! They were from New York also .. so are Jerry and Edna and George and Vivian!!! They stay in Myrtle Beach for 3 months and have been doing that for 40 years!!! Nice people!!!
After a short break to rest a while in our "homes" the gang met up with Don and Carol at The Santa Maria for BINGO.
Edna and Jerry were the "big" winner of the night at our table .. Edna won the first game of Bingo .. and they had given us each a small valentine when we came in .. Edna had a winning valentine and got that light up Rose she's holding ..
The first win was a small bottle of Sutter's Home Wine and a box of Sandwich Crackers ..
Whoops ... time to go .. Coffee Hour and Brunch .. I'll finish this lovely tale later .. LOL!!!
Hi Liz and Ken ! Great pics and a Great pic of you both playing Valentine Bingo. That movie sounded really good ! I called Greg and told him he should rent it if it is out yet. Also, The one that Scott and I both watched,The Martian. -- Another Beautiful pic of the ocean. My acu-rite has said that it was in the 30's today. Your temp. is much lower that was on Palestine's. You certainly have met a lot of nice people since you married Ken ! He knows a lot of people. I think he has me beat !(LOL)
ReplyDeleteYes I agree with you .. I inherited a lot of super friends when I married Ken!! They're not only super nice people they are all about as crazy as we are .. lots of laughs!!!!
